All members in good standing are eligible to participate in professional designation training. Having relevant industry designations is one way to increase credibility, knowledge, and ultimately success.

An AAPL designation identifies the recipient as one who is how part of an elite group of private lending professionals who by combining education and experience with dedication to the industry have achieved a high level of expertise.

Certified Private Lender Associate (CPLA) – Courses are in person at AAPL and select partner events

The Certified Private Lender Associate designation provides a comprehensive overview of the principles of private lending. It also includes detailed information on the current federal laws and regulations surrounding the industry. Upon successful completion of the course, AAPL members in good standing will be entitled to use the CPLA designation and logo, demonstrating their commitment to education and their desire to achieve industry excellence.

What you will study: AAPL Introduction (Code of Ethics, Education, Committees), Business Purpose Lending, Underwriting, Legal Documentation, Loan Servicing, Loss Mitigation, Intro to Private Lending Securities Law.

Fee includes: CPLA Courses, Exam, and certificate upon successful completion of the exam. This designation is available to take in a live classroom format. 

The CPLA Designation may be used on letterhead, business cards, and other writings.

Certified Fund Manager (CFM) – NOW ONLINE!

The CFM designation bridges industry practice, investment theory, and ethical and professional standards to provide investment analysis and portfolio management skills. This intensive four-stage course, designed by industry veterans, will help you answer the question, “Is a mortgage fund my next growth opportunity?”

What you will study: Mortgage Pool Fundamentals – Vision and Execution; How to Structure, Capitalize and Administer a Mortgage Pool Fund; Creation and Launching of the Fund; and on-going Fund Administration.

Fee includes: CFM ONLINE or in-person class courses, exam, and certificate upon successful completion of the exam.
