The American Association of Private Lenders (AAPL) is the oldest and largest national association for private lending real estate professionals.  We seek to support the private lending industry's viability as a respected and reliable alternative to conventional mortgage lending among business-purpose borrowers. Nearly all our efforts operate under three pillars: Education, Ethics, and Advocacy.

Education // Whether just starting out or well-established in the industry, we recognize that our members have a thirst for understanding the latest market rends, resources, and operational efficiencies. We provide for our members’ professional development year-round and across a variety of media via curated content from leading subject matter experts.

Ethics // We safeguard the interests of the industry through our Code of Ethics, instilling a sense of responsibility without unnecessarily burdening members with impractical expectations. To help members keep faith with the Code, we provide ongoing guidance that articulates a framework of practice without being overly prescriptive.

Advocacy // As our industry grows, it increasingly comes to the attention of state and federal legislators. Our grassroots strategy to tell our members’ stories of who they are, what they do, and why it matters has successfully protected our constituency time and time again, earning the highest accolade of seemingly-adversarial policymakers leaning in to learn more.
