When asked to tell us about his hobbies, Saurabh Shah, co-founder of InstaLend, told us he loves playing sports and eating ice cream. For a second we thought he said playing sports while eating ice cream — we are definitely now disappointed to realize this isn’t the case.

Anyway, when you run into Saurabh at our Annual Conference, be sure to ask him what his favorite flavor is! He didn’t tell us. (Is it a secret, Saurabh? Why all the mystery?)

How long have you been an AAPL member?

What AAPL benefit do you MOST value?

The Annual Conference is a huge value add to our industry. We’ve also had some inbound leads through the member directory.

Why did you become a member?

Anyone who is a serious lender is a member of AAPL. It was a no-brainer.

What is your favorite AAPL memory?

The annual conference is by far the best memory I have. We built priceless relationships there and were able to grow our business thanks to the same.

Why did you decide to enter the private lending profession?

I used to be a real estate investment banker and soon realized the potential that technology has to disrupt the lending industry. That’s why we started InstaLend, which today is a nationwide real estate lender for single and multi-family properties across short- and long-term loans.

What are some accomplishments you are particularly proud of?

I’m extremely grateful to have had an opportunity to spearhead automation efforts at InstaLend, where we’ve been able to streamline loan submissions, draw requests, and pre-approvals. It’s been the equivalent of automating one full-time employee’s workload.

What is your favorite book, and why?

I’m a huge fan of Zero to One by Peter Thiel. The book has a lot of helpful literature on scaling a business, which comes in handy to entrepreneurs.
