Our March Member Spotlight shines on Craig Johnson, our Chief of Staff at AAPL!
What is one accomplishment (personal or professional) you’re particularly proud of?
When reflecting on his career, Craig Johnson doesn’t point to awards, milestones, or business achievements. Instead, he highlights something far more meaningful: the privilege of coaching and developing Linda Hyde for more than 19 years. Watching her grow, lead, and ultimately achieve the success she has today stands as one of Craig’s proudest accomplishments. For Craig, her journey represents the true impact of leadership—investing in people, believing in their potential, and supporting them as they rise. Seeing Linda thrive is, in his words, one of the most rewarding achievements of his career.
When asked to share the guiding principle that shapes his leadership and daily approach to life, Craig Johnson keeps it simple and powerful: “Be better!” For Craig, this motto isn’t about perfection— it’s about progress. It’s a reminder that every day offers an opportunity to improve, whether through learning something new, supporting a colleague, refining a process, or simply showing up with intention. “Be better!” reflects his belief that growth is a continuous practice and that small, consistent steps forward create meaningful impact over time. It’s a mindset he brings to his work, his relationships, and his commitment to the private lending community.
