Jasen Miller came to our private lending world courtesy of a property development history that spanned countries (we’re lucky to have you, Jasen)! If you have an opportunity to sit down with Jasen, ask him about his years in Mazatlan Mexico and his resulting enthusiasm for spear fishing.

How long have you been an AAPL member?
5 years.
What AAPL benefit do you MOST value?
Wow, I find the conferences to be extremely valuable where I see old friends and business partners while making new valuable relationships. I also have the Fund Manager Certification which is a very helpful feather in my cap when talking to investors. The Membership Directory has enabled me to come in contact with many good borrowers and brokers, and finally; every AAPL webinar I have attended has been most relevant to our space and very well presented! I find immense value in being an AAPL member.
Why did you become a member?
I was referred to AAPL by a former employee of PeerStreet with whom I have become very good friends and I still do business.
What is your favorite AAPL memory?
I have several years of memories I cherish, but my most fun memories have to be the PeerStreet party at an RV Park in 2017.
Editors Note: The AAPL Annual Conference Official After Parties are becoming the stuff of legend! We love setting the stage for our members to shine – and have fun!
Why did you decide to enter the private lending profession?
I used to develop residential subdivisions and one of my acquisition and development lenders encouraged me to take a look at the space. This was on my mind and while I was running an oil field services business, I loaned a few friends money for real estate investment projects. I also met my partner, Jason Hirko, who was seeking to exit the oil field and start a business with me. After explaining the opportunity to Hirko (who also owned a portfolio of rental properties), he twisted my arm and we started Corridor Funding in March of 2016.
What are some accomplishments you are particularly proud of?
Seeing with my own eyes the revitalization of areas that were going the wrong way, and actually having a neighbor of a project we were funding thank me “for taking a chance” on her neighborhood. I am also very proud of the men and women who work for Corridor Funding and watching them succeed as they help our client family succeed.
What is your favorite book, and why?
This is a tough question, but I would say The Obstacle is the Way is my favorite book about leadership and team management. There are many books that describe different styles of leadership, but this book best describes my philosophy and the culture we work to grow at Corridor Funding.
Jasen, is this where your “One Team One Fight” mantra came from that we can still hear echoing in the halls of Corridor Funding?
