How long have you been an AAPL member?

Seven Years

What AAPL benefit do you MOST value?

AAPL provides substantial value for our business. Their annual conference is second to none, the magazine is great, but I must say the relationships you develop at AAPL, the people you meet, and the ability to collaborate is by far the most beneficial part of AAPL for us.

Why did you become a member?

At the time AAPL was one of the only places where private lenders could find a forum to collaborate and standardize best practices. We were looking for a centralized platform to share our solutions for private lenders. AAPL became a perfect fit.

What is your favorite AAPL memory?

Definitely the Appraisal Nation after parties. Over the years we had some pretty great events and although we couldn’t get a tiger to our Hangover party, it was still a pretty amazing time. Be sure not to miss the next one.

Why did you decide to enter the private lending profession?

Our AMC was designed for small to midsize lenders. As we grew we noticed private lending was growing along with the need to understand the critical aspects of a property valuation for that space. We saw a fit and began specializing in it. We spent the better part of decade tailoring products and mastering appraisals specifically designed for private lenders to become the national leader.

What are some accomplishments you are particularly proud of?

Starting and growing Appraisal Nation comes to top of my professional list, but being able to do it without outside capital through a dedicated grind was especially rewarding.

We created Appraisal Nation to be a valuation solution for small to mid size lenders. What we didn’t expect is how that model was exactly what Private Lenders needed; so developing Appraisal Nation into the premier private lenders solution was another great success.

What is your favorite book, and why?

The King James Bible is what I grew up on and helps keep me grounded. The complete works of Edgar Allen Poe was a gift from my wife and is my favorite writer. The Shack was a more recent favorite I read.
