Mark Filler’s all-time favorite thing is being with his family. No raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, Mark?
(Sorry, we just finished watching “Sound of Music” and the “My Favorite Things” lyrics are mentally playing on repeat.)
This family man also professes an obsession with his three dogs, so we have the feeling they’re included in Mark’s Favorite Things (and probably why kittens don’t make the cut). However, the Rice Park Capital partner neglected the famed puppy tax so we don’t have pics to show you.
Read on for more on Mark Filler, but sans dog pictures.
Yes, we’re bitter. We do know Mark is making the rounds at the industry conferences this year, so you’ll have the opportunity to remind him in person that he’s behind on his taxes.
How long have you been an AAPL member?
1 year.
What AAPL benefit do you MOST value?
Annual Conference and Member Directory. Webinars are great too.
Why did you become a member?
To learn and meet great people. We are a private equity firm that wants to invest equity in or acquire private lenders.
What is your favorite AAPL memory?
I was at the first AAPL conference. It’s incredible how far AAPL has come to lead the industry!
Why did you decide to enter the private lending profession?
I was in the traditional mortgage business for 15 years. I wanted a change, but I didn’t have expertise other than lending.
What are some accomplishments you are particularly proud of?
I started Jordan Capital Finance, which we sold to Blackstone. We took a mortgage company public (IPO). We acquired 30 mortgage companies. I’m most proud of the many great people I worked with, and the relationships we have developed.
What is your favorite book, and why?
Exodus by Leon Uris. It’s an amazing story about the Middle East, and how Israel became a country.
